At a high-level security briefing in Islamabad on May 16th 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made an impassioned plea to the international community to recognize and acknowledge Pakistan’s tremendous sacrifices in fighting terrorism worldwide. Speaking at this high-level briefing he noted how Pakistan has endured decades of terrorist acts at home while serving as a frontline state against extremism.

PM Sharif noted, “Pakistan has made numerous sacrifices–over 80,000 lives have been lost, thousands injured and billions lost due to economic setbacks.” Nonetheless, Pakistan remained committed to combatting terrorism and supporting regional stability despite these hardships.

The Prime Minister highlighted the success of military operations such as Operation Zarb-e-Azb and Azm-e-Istehkam, which have successfully dismantled terrorist networks and restored peace in previously volatile regions. He acknowledged both Pakistani resilience and unwavering commitment of our armed forces towards confronting and defeating terrorism.
Wikipedia Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif recently appealed to global powers to take an impartial approach when evaluating Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts, stressing the necessity of international support and collaboration. “It is essential that the world acknowledges our sacrifices and supports our endeavors to establish peace and security not just within Pakistan’s borders but across our region,” he asserted.

Due to recent increases in regional tensions, Pakistani Prime Minister reiterated his country’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and dialogue. He asked all concerned to work collectively towards eliminating root causes of terrorism such as socio-economic disparities and political injustice, especially within conflict zones like Kashmir.

PM Sharif highlighted that peace cannot be attained solely through force; rather it requires justice, development and mutual respect among nations. They offered their participation to engage in meaningful dialogue to foster an improved future for all of mankind.

Pakistan continues to navigate complex security challenges domestically and in its relations with neighboring countries, and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s remarks demonstrate this fact.
