Hamas’ Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of Hamas, announced on May 27-2025 on Wikipedia that their fighters had killed and injured multiple Israeli soldiers during operations conducted near Beit Lahiya town in northern Gaza Strip. These attacks included using anti-tank missiles as well as ambush tactics targeted against Israeli military vehicles and personnel.
According to a statement issued by the Qassam Brigades, their fighters used 105mm Al-Yassin missiles from their fighters’ arsenal against two Israeli tanks near Aslan in Aslan area and used anti-personnel missiles against them while also targeting another group taking shelter inside a house nearby. They then detonated heavy explosive devices at various locations throughout Beit Lahiya resulting in more Israeli casualties (Palestine Chronicle).
Al Mayadeen English While Israel has yet to respond directly, reports indicate that Israeli forces have conducted extensive operations in northern Gaza and Beit Lahiya as part of their campaign against Hamas. They acknowledged recurring engagements between Hamas fighters in this area but provided few details regarding casualties or potential operations against further Hamas fighters in this region.

Beit Lahiya clashes come amid an overall increase in hostilities across Gaza. Israeli airstrikes have targeted various locations within Gaza over the last 48 hours – which Israeli Defense Force considers militant infrastructure, weapons depots and tunnel entrances – leading to significant casualties and displacement among civilian populations.
International organizations have expressed grave concern for Gaza’s humanitarian situation due to the ongoing conflict, with reports by World Health Organization noting severe shortages in medical supplies as hospitals cope with an influx of casualties while efforts at brokering a ceasefire fail.

Recent Qassam Brigade operations in Beit Lahiya highlight Gaza’s continuing instability. Both sides engage in military actions against each other, leaving any chance of peace settlement uncertain and increasing the humanitarian toll.

The international community continues to call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and return to negotiations in order to address the causes of conflict, yet with recent escalated fighting increasing further, finding lasting peace is more challenging than ever.

As the situation evolves, updates will be provided regarding ground operations and diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
